“The path”
Our path starts from the Mountaineering Refuge at 1550 m  altitude. After a while we exit the fir forest and we enter the alpine zone where the peak rises above us. In the vast area of alpine fields, following the rapid and rough ramp lead us to ”Portes” point at 2250m altitude. The pyramid-shapped peak stands in front of us. A last final push will reward our effort. 2407m above sea level everything looks close to us!

After the descent to the refuge, we ride our bicycles and we follow the dirt road across the dense forest. The gravity is our ”engine”. 15 kilometers of intense downhill till we reach the valley. Now Sparta is 16 kilometres away to the north through numerous olive tree fields, traditional villages and restaurants/taverns with home made traditional food!
